Politics stands to Corruption as Corruption stands to Politics, an old equation that never fails, and terrifying in its simplicity. After all what is a Politicians if not a mere “sales representative” of major corporations, whose board members, CEOs, investors are really those who hold the real power in this world of ours, and the funny thing is that we really do not even know who they are, because in truth, power –true power- is never visible. And power –real power that is- doesn’t really belong in this world to more 5% of its population. Politicians are simply bought, just like hookers, just a little bit more expensive.
Police, Army, Civil Service all theoretically structures and organizations “at the service of the people”, are in reality nothing more and nothing less than the “Rottweilers” that are created to make sure than the age old application of the political concept of “dividi et Impera” (divide and rule) is equally shared amongst the remaining 95% of the world population. Because, let’s face it, our entire social structure is built around the protection and continual prosperity of a very slim minority over the misery and frustration of the majority of the human race.
Power uses multiple tools to keep its hold, and ignorance is one of the most effective. Religion, the other! Lack of analytical thinking has been refined in the post war generations to almost a subliminal art. The ability to influence successive generations to reliance on more and sophisticated gadgets, mobiles, IP 3s and 4s, console games, cars, designer goods, has in effect created a situation of mass dependency on these things and so when a legitimate protest actually takes place, the political message of the very few organizers that see the reality of the situation is diluted if not completely obliterated by the episodes of mass looting and damage to property by groups of biologically formed humanoid life forms (products of a overall political design that wants them exactly so), that confuse the protest with the appropriation of electronic and other mass produced goods, and that create a negative reaction on a more and ignorant and superficial Middle Class, thus distracting them from really thinking through the base reality of such events, and the real message that the organizers is lost in a bubble “righteous indignation” from our political representatives, that calls its own spawns “thugs, criminals, anti-social misfits” and so on, and of course finds itself supported by an army of Lower Middle Class shopkeepers and merchants, who are just as ignorant , if not more, than the clones who actually did the looting and the damage, and will of course not contest the political push on “Law and Order”, and therefore allow the passage of laws that more and more restrict our individual liberties and firmly set the foundation of a new form of social control, that will eventually create a society that neither Orwell in his 1984 nor Hitler or even Stalin in their dictatorial and ruthless approach to politics could have imagined possible in their wildest dreams.
Because, let’s be realistic the more the world pushes forward in it’s present state, the more society needs to be structured along certain control lines if those who hold the real power, want to assure that the “Status Quo” continues undisturbed to their children and their children’s children.
The overall decline of the Western school system was a political decision that started in the late 60s, and was progressively followed through by successive generations of politicians. It was the first necessary step, because the upheaval to “The System” caused by a highly educated class of students created the power brokers controlling politics some serious embarrassment, as well as forcing unwelcome changes such as the Human Rights Legislation, in Europe and the Bill of Rights in the US. The System was called into question in almost every aspect of the social structure, religion, sex, family, abortion, military service etc. The Arts, painting, literature and music were influences of destabilization in the 60s and the 70s, and the pacifistic nature of the overall movement made it difficult for the system to contests. Of course, politicians that manifested an excessive idealism, or independence from the “hand that fed them”, and started to identify with certain facets of the 60s movement, like John F. Kennedy where eliminated in a very drastic way, others were politically or socially disgraced by using weapons of choice of “The System”, the Media or the Legal System.
There is no doubt that the 60s were troubled times everywhere. The Cold War was in full swing, episodes like the botched “Bay of Pigs” invasion, the American advisers arriving in Vietnam, the troubles in the Congo, the Berlin Wall, the Arab-Israeli War of 1967, the rise of Communism and Socialism in Europe, etc. All these events tend to be looked at separately, and yet they were part of whole system of political power brokering of the post War era.
The Cold War was as much a kingpin of global economics as drugs were. In effect, aside the public postures between the “two opposing blocks”, the actual reality was that both sides would never have gone into a global all out nuclear conflict, as that would have had no winners. Instead, the “threat” was used by common agreement between the West and the East to divide and rule the planet, allow them to keep tight controls over their masses of population, and keep alive and ticking their wide military-industrial complexes. For in reality between the “ruling classes” of the East and of the West there was no difference, and in fact the only real difference that one can identify is at best one of perception to the application of that power: In the West (within limits) we were allowed to say and think whatever we wanted ( we call that Freedom of Speech) but Power ignored us, in the East they gave more credence to what their people say or thought and people were not ignored but sent to Gulags. However, as far the privileges, the status, and the luxury of lifestyle there was in effect little or no difference between the Communist “Nomenclature” (Elite), and our multi-millionaires. Both flaunted a standard of living way above that the rest of society.
Drugs, well considering that already the legal ones in the 60s and the 70s were extremely damaging, they were not enough to allow the evolution to the present situation. Cannabis, LSD, Cocaine and Heroine became as such the new devils to combat in society. The junkie became the new social and economic foundation on which the Capitalist System, just as “The Dissident” was the foundation on which Communist System rested. The more drug addicts, the more crime and the more crime the more police, the more police, the more courts, the more courts the more lawyers, clerks, printers, social workers, prisons, warders, prison guards, etc........ So crime, and especially drug-related crime becomes the vehicle through which “The System” pushes through more and more restrictive legislation through a manipulation of a great part of society, who is so blind, and locked in its own individualism, as to have no idea of what is really going on.
The Junkie becomes in effect a production centre in itself. A centre around which social control can be exerted, the police given more powers, and those powers can be used arbitrarily to further others agendas that have little correlation to the Junkie as such; therefore the natural expansion of the law was used systematically to erode the rights and guarantees of a defendant, make a mockery of the presumption of innocence till proven guilty, and allow Courts and Prosecutors the leeway to seize assets and property of individuals that though suspected of a crime, have as yet to be convicted of it.
A parallel situation can be seen today with the plethora of Anti-Terrorist legislation that has flourished in the post 9/11 era, and slowly but surely the figure of the Terrorist has overtaken that of the Junkie as an economic production centre, as a well as a means of social control and oppression done all in the name of a supposed war on terror.
Not that free thinking of the West didn’t worry our rulers, it did. And in fact the slow but systematic changes that they applied through their political puppets in 70s could in effect be seen in the social aloofness of the 80s and the 90s, its marked individualism and greed, the ignorance that comes with it, culminating to the present day where we are witnessing an all-out intellectual regression that, unless we start seriously to contest, will take us back to the Middle Ages, and towards a new form of Space Age, electronic and computerized neo-feudalism.
